He dwelled in the bottom of the mighty Mississip
A fish so big your whole fish finder blips
I tell you I spotted that blip one day
And came home with a story now a legend here to stay
Mud Cat
Mud Cat
I was fishing on the bottom and I just locked on
When something else hit the fish I had on
I started to reel, thought I had a snag
But then he started running and for dear life I held on
Mud Cat
Mud Cat
He’s the legend of the river and he’s six feet wide and three times as long
You’ve never had a catfish quite as big, or half as strong
He’s a powerful, mean, son of a gun, that monster is eighteen feet long
Mud Cat
Mud Cat
Well I let that monster run out all of my line
And slowly reeled it back a half a dozen times
My boat it was rocking from side to side
It’s a miracle it never did capsize
Mud Cat
Mud Cat
I ran the boat all the way into shore
Hooked up to my truck and put my foot on the floor
I pulled and pulled and pulled some more
When I lost my bumper that’s when I swore
Mud Cat
Mud Cat
Mud Cat
